Synopsis: Two security guards investigate an alarm. They find a dead body. Don and his team arrive and are informed that the murder victim is part of a think tank and does classified work. The deceased man’s hard drive was wiped clean and they did not steal the information on it. Charlie will try to reverse engineer the program to restore the files. David interviews the dead man’s wife. Don finds out what the victim was working on and tells Charlie. Charlie discovered a sabermetrics program that he was also developing. At Dr. Hoke’s office, his assistant is working on the computer. He’s not aware that the victim was a baseball fan. Larry comes upon Charlie and Larry hates sabermetrics. Back at Don’s office he and David bring each other up to speed. There’s an insurance policy. Don and David pay a visit to Mrs. Hoke’s boyfriend. It leads nowhere. Charlie analyzes the computer and is interrupted by Scott, the assistant. Charlie and Larry go to Dr. Hoke’s funeral but they are the only ones in attendance. At the house, Charlie works on the case. He learns that his parents nearly divorced when he went to Princeton. The conversation leads Charlie to a discovery. He was trying to apply sabermetrics to real people. Don and Charlie talk with Scott again. From what they learn, the data he was using to determine people’s success was cut off. Don and David go back to the crime scene to take a second look. David finds a wire sticking out of the alarm box. When he pulls the face off he finds evidence of surveillance equipment. Don and Terry talk to the deceased boss about the surveillance and the program he was working on. He disagreed with the statistical analysis and how it was being done. But ultimately, he owns the software. The FBI says it was not their surveillance either. The tech says it was piggybacked, there is no prints. However, the unit was bought by the boyfriend. Don heads back to the boyfriend again. The listening device was Mrs. Hoke’s lawyer’s idea. They interview the wife again. The lawyer turns over the surveillance to prove her client’s innocence. Charlie analyzes the keystrokes and the person who erased the files also had access to the computer at work. Don arrests his assistant for the murder. Before he’s taken away, Charlie asks him why he killed him. His formula would have prevented his school from getting a computer lab. He wanted to stop him from the Nazi’s all over again. Larry and Charlie chat in the garage and get philosophical.

There is enough material to take out several blocks. Terry and David talk to the follow team. Terry has pulled the driver’s record. They interview his wife. She tells them about a group that approached Ray. The group wanted his route info for a protest, but instead he’s found dead. The truck is being ransomed for $20 million. Charlie comes into the office. Don would like to know if he can predict where they might detonate the material. He can predict a lot of things but not what type of bomb they will use. They get a call from a physicist who spoke to two people about the isotope stolen. Alan comes out and finds the two working. Larry tells Alan what’s going on. After Alan calms down, Charlie asks him to help. Don has a possible suspect. Terry got a notice about C4 missing from a naval base. He then takes off to let Charlie know about the C4. They interview an older gentleman. It turns out his son is friends with the suspect and works at the Naval Base. They search his apartment and the bomb was made there. The hijacker calls in with some ransom information. He’s upped the deadline. Alan tells them Angela’s square is the mostly likely target because of the way the buildings are set. They evacuate the area. As they are searching the area a bomb goes off. Don and his team were within 100 feet, but they are free of radiation. Don thinks it all might be a bluff and a power play. Back at the house, Charlie, Alan and Larry all talk. Charlie is upset because he was going to pick the other location. At the office Don, Terry and David start analyzing the buildings in that area. They go to an art restorers and she have been robbed of some extremely valuable set of paintings, the value is approximately $100 million. Don goes with Charlie on this. He puts all three suspects together and lets Charlie give them a little school session. They get Mark to turn. He tells them where the truck is and that someone is with the truck. They head to the location and approach the building. But the guy with the truck drives it through the doors. He threats to dump the casks. He actually starts to dump them. The man is sick from radiation poisoning. Later that night Don brags to Alan about how Charlie got them to break. Charlie gets a call, there is a new shooting. David and Terry interview a victim at the scene. Edgerton teaches Charlie about sniper techniques. Terry informs them there are two snipers. They catch the first suspect and interrogate him. Turns out he’s an informant. As the team patrols, it’s a ghost town. No one is willing to go out and possibly be shot. Alan brings Don lunch at work. He expresses his concerns about Charlie going to scenes. There is another shooting. Edgerton thinks Charlie might have been right all along. At the house, Charlie and Amita continue to try and crunch numbers. Back at Don’s office, Charlie does a presentation of the data, they are increasing in rate. His analysis demonstrates that it was a different shooter for each attack. It’s a chain of copycats. Don regroups and tries to solve each case individually. He solves each case. However, more cases are happening. Charlie thinks that some cases are linked to one sniper and others are just viral activity. He wants to learn to shoot a rifle to understand the mechanics. Alan and Larry play chess together. At the range, Charlie isn’t doing too well until Don tries a different technique and he hits the bullseye. At the office, the skill level of each shooter is assessed. He has detected a pattern that four shootings were done by the same person. The team narrows their search to try and find a common denominator. Don changes focus from the victims to where the shots were fired as it wasn’t about the victims. They were chosen at random. They come up with a suspect, Nathan. David interviews his mother and she kicked him out just before the shootings started. Information comes in about the suspect. Synopsis: A school bus is hit by a train. The conductor tried to stop the train but failed. The conductor released an emergency valve to try to save the kids on the school bus, but it cost him his life. Turns out the bus was empty, so he died trying to save kids that weren’t there. An investigator tells them it was a recreation of a prior train accident. The guy who caused the wreck left a note too. The note is some kind of code. Back at the office the investigator goes over all the train cases and their copycats. Charlie and Amita join them. Don fills Charlie and Amita in on the case. Charlie and Amita do a quick analysis. Charlie lists several ways he might be able to the code without the key. A train spotter turns into footage he filmed of the accident. He might have gotten footage of three people damaging the train. He also got the vehicle’s license plate. At Charlie’s office Charlie and Amita are surprised by Larry. Larry is hiding from another female professor who he just had an extremely romantic night with, simply because he believes it cannot be duplicated. He then makes a statement about the math department being the least sexually charged of all of them and this causes Amita and Charlie to share a look. Don and his team stake out the van used in the robbery. They attempt to lure the suspect out. They move in to find him dead in the kitchen. He’s also a railroad cop. His garage is filled with stuff that was on four of the sabotaged trains. Don gets another call from the man setting up the train wrecks. Charlie is at the house and Amita is waiting in the car. Alan gets mad at him for leaving her in the car and points out the fact that Amita likes him. Charlie and Amita has a train expert for some help. The expert invites Amita to dinner and she declines while Charlie feels a slight twinge of jealously. Back at Don’s office they continue to dig into train cases for a connection. It leads them to a warehouse that they raid. They talk to the people in the warehouse. Horizontal Bob is nowhere to be found, but they do get some information on him. Charlie and Amita are back at the school. They discuss the docent who hit on her. Amita tells Charlie that someone asking someone out is how you know if they like you. They find Larry and try to console him. The two continue working on the train case and discover that the numbers are from an NTSH report about a Cohone accident. Back at Don’s office the two tell Don and his team about what they discovered. Don wonders if the remaining digits are for a license. Turns out it was the license of the engineer who got blamed for the accident. They interview his wife. Turns out that there were issues with the breaking system that the train company covered up. Terry doesn’t think the engineer died in the crash and that he is sending her money. He is also the man he talked to at the warehouse. He called from a switch station. Don ups the security. Charlie analyzes the trains to see which is most like the one that crashed in the Cahone pass. Mrs. Milton comes into the office and tells them that Frank called her. He told her goodbye and now they are worried it will be a suicide mission. We then see Frank with explosives strapped to his body. Charlie sets up with the investigator at the switch station. Charlie finds a train nearly identical and its carrying nuclear waste. Frank is wearing a security uniform and the others walk right by him. But Don spots him. Frank uncovers his bomb. Terry comes around the corner and sees what’s going on. David comes upon the scene and he manages to disarm the bomb. Back at the office Amita tells Charlie she got Larry to ask the professor out again. Charlie is in the middle of asking Amita out when Don interrupts him. The team is at the house having a dinner. They send Ethan a proof of life video. Ethan is now working with the FBI. Charlie will use his work to create an algorithm that will pass initial scrutiny. David interviews Carl’s ex-girlfriend. He called her and bragged about what he was going to do. At Ethan’s house, he, Charlie and Amita are working together on the math. A video is sent to Ethan. Once they have the math they’ll know in 12 hours if it works. Charlie figures out that they don’t want to open every door just one. So the new goal is to create a key that opens that door. Don thinks it could be interest rates. They begin setting the trap. Back at Ethan’s Charlie tells Don the false key is built and Amita is building the trap. Ethan makes the call but the number is disconnected. A message pops up and they email the key. Back at the office the hacker follows the crumbs. They now have an address. They stake out the house. Don goes to Charlie’s map. They head to the hot zone, photograph each of the men and collect DNA from discarded items. Back at the house, Alan is teasing Charlie and Amita about being a couple. But she informs them that she has an arranged marriage set up back home. However, she has no intention of going through with it. Alan basically calls him and his brother dense in regards to certain matters. Charlie goes to see Don about the map. Victim 12’s data doesn’t match. She lied about where she was attacked. Don and Terry go to her work. Turns out she was still friendly with an ex-boyfriend. He gives Charlie the new location. At the office all the DNA is back and all the men are cleared. Charlie calls in with an updated hot zone. However, those 20 guys have already been cleared. Charlie is upset because the math didn’t work. Amita tries to calm him but it doesn’t work. She leaves. At the FBI office Don gets pulled from the case. Charlie rides his bike to the arcade to find Larry. He advises him to make his equation less pretty and neat. Charlie and Don both go back their office and look over the case file again. In a parking lot a woman walks to her car. The attacker is waiting in her car. At the house, Don, Charlie an Alan wrack their minds. Don informs Charlie he’s been taken off the case. Alan points out there is something they are both having trouble putting their finger on. They were assuming his base was just his home, but it could also be his work place well. The new map Charlie generates has two small hot zones. The suspect should have a link to both areas. With the new data Don’s able to narrow down to one suspect. The team is on board. Don, David and Terry go to his work. Terry searches the perimeter while they talk to him. He finds the brand on the bottom of a knife handle. He takes David hostage Terry sees a body through a window and breaks in. The sound gives Don the opportunity to shoot him. Terry finds the woman is not dead and gets the bag of her head, saving her life. Charlie is driven to the scene. Don shows him a parking permit for Silver City, he had lived there and recently moved. Charlie also saw that a woman’s life was saved.
