Synopsis: A man is eating a steak while talking to a woman he’s clearly kidnapped. At the BAU, the guys are teasing Elle about a possible boyfriend. JJ briefs them about a series of murders. They’ve been called in because the police let an identified serial killer get away. On the plane, they get additional briefing on the subject. When they arrive in Tampa, they hit the ground running. The team starts to learn about him by interviewing everyone in his life. Hotch and Elle learn he was previously married. Gideon and Reid go to his house to profile it. His closet is fo great interest. Reid discovers that he is trying to disguise himself. Back at the hotel, he’s killing a woman as room service arrives. Garcia finds information about the marriage. It only lasted 23 days. At the taskforce, the team delivers the profile. A call comes in. The missing woman’s body has been located in Georgia. Elle and Derek head to the scene. Derek points out that this victim is the first with no connection to him. In an airport parking garage, he starts targeting another woman, but others in close proximity gets too close and he moves on. Garcia finds the ex-wife. She tells Hotch what marriage was like. Reid and Gideon visit his father. They learn his mother died when she was 10. She drowned in a car crash. In another hotel, Mark has a new victim. Back at the taskforce center, they learn that his girlfriend and first kill was cheating on her husband with him. Garcia finds security footage from the airport garage. JJ delivers a press conference. Reid and Gideon try and theorize what is making him kill. The next body surfaces in South Carolina. Reid comes to the realization that since the press conference he might have completely changed his appearance and MO. Elle and Derek go to the new crime scene. He’s now spending half as much time with them and torturing them more. Garcia finds the death of his mother. In a parking lot, he’s using a disabled ruse to get another victim. Gideon and Reid question the father again. His mother was unfaithful and it skewed his views of women. His father is a spineless and weak man. At a cheap hotel, Mark throws the woman in the pool and jumps in with her. A man witnesses it and does CPR to help her. He brings her back to life and Mark takes off. Garcia locates another victim in Tennessee, she survived though. They now believe Mark killed his own Mother. Garcia is asked to pull the mother’s accident so they can reanalyze it. Mark kidnaps another woman in a parking lot. It’s now all over the news and Mark is freaking out. Garcia lets them know that Mark’s mother drowned. Mark had to have held her down until she drowned. He’s taking his most recent victim back to that scene to recreate his first murder. The victim crashes the car not far from where Elle and Derek are. She tries to get away. They find the crashed car empty. The search continues on foot and they head to the water. Everyone follows the screaming and splashing. She grabs something from below and hits him with hit. He gets shot and Elle pulls the woman out of the water. Morgan calls the team and lets them know they rescued the victim and the suspect is dead.

Synopsis: The Day of the Dead celebration is taking place in Mexico. A family’s son has come home drunk and told he’s not welcome. His mother is crying when there is knock at the door. The person attacks and kills her. At Hotch’s house, he carries a crying Jack downstairs. It’s also his birthday party. The phone rings and its Gideon, there’s a case. The team gets briefed by JJ. Gideon makes Hotch go with them to Mexico. On the plane, they discuss how other countries refuse to accept that they also have serial killers. They arrive at the police station. The Captains fills in the team on the drive to the crime scene. They go over the scene. The Captain thinks there was a woman that the victim was drinking with, based on the drink. The team determines it was a sexual crime. Gideon informs him they are looking for a heterosexual male. They head back to the station and Gideon and Hotch are introduced to the district attorney. Inside, they all discuss the case. They talk to the suspect, Miguel. Gideon determines that he is gay and that is why caused the fight and why he left. Hotch is upset that they were played. The Captain apologizes because he wants to catch the serial killer and protect the women in the city at all costs. They need the truth about Miguel so that speak to the sister who’s been sitting at the station since he was arrested. She tells them about Miguel’s friend Roberto. She helps as much as she can as she does not want her brother killed in prison. The Captain finds out that Roberto was married before he was with Miguel. He could have committed the murder. They question him and learn that Miguel’s uncle was causing most of the issues. He tells them he saw a woman who looked like a social worker and describes what she looked like. She’s now being searched for as a witness. Back at the station, Gideon rules out a family member. Garcia calls with DNA analysis. One glass had female DNA and the other had male DNA. Reid thinks the social worker is actually a man dressed as a woman. The team now delivers the full profile. During the meeting, an officer comes in and informs them there’s been another murder. They all head to the new crime scene. Elle talks to the daughter of the victim. Back at the station, they’ve rounded up all the men who dress like women. The District Attorney is angry and tells the BAU to go home. There was a major miscommunication and they learn it is because not all sex crimes are reported so they have an incomplete database. JJ preps the Captain for the press conference. The team goes over the murders on record. The officers and the team go out and canvas for rape victims. They speak with one in particular who might have information. She tells Elle about her rape. Back at the station, they discuss the timeline. The officer lets them know the rape victims have arrived. They were all raped by the same man. In a house, somewhere, some sits in a chair watching tv. At the station, the Captain asks the women to tell him their stories. Gideon thinks. The victim’s all tell the same story. One of the officers finds a link, four ladies work in the same factory. They go to the factory and speak to the owner. She’s dismissive. They describe him and she doesn’t recognize him but allows them to check the employee records. Hotch wants to know what would make him stand out. It generates an idea. She has one person who always asks, “How did I do?” At his home, they find the dead mother and she is wearing the stolen jewelry. On the wall his has photos of all his rape victim’s IDs. At the station, the officer charted all the rape victim’s names. The Captain discovers that the rape victim’s mothers are being murdered. They race to Milagro’s house to try and save her mother. There are signs of a struggle that lead them to the back yard. They find him, dying. All the victim’s come out of the bushes. At the station, the District Attorney is not charging anyone with this crime as it’s self-defense.

Synopsis: Reid takes Gideon to an art show in L.A. being run by an old classmate. Lila, an actress, enters and Spencer is smitten. They chat. Gideon chats with Lila’s friend who is the artist. She makes a pass at Gideon. He demands to leave. AT the LAPD Reid talks about the case. We see a woman whose house gets invaded. A man who knows her comes home and finds her shot in the head. The killer hasn’t left and kills him too. As Gideon and Reid prepare to leave the man they were training gets a call. It’s about the double murder. He asks for their help. They analyze the scene. The whole team comes out to join them. When they arrive they give the profile. After an agent for a movie start and the client come in. A threat has been made against her. It’s Lila. The team interviews her. She freaks out and leaves, Reid goes after her. The team delivers an updated profile. They have to figure out a way to keep her safe as she does not want her life interrupted. Gideon becomes worried about her manager. Reid stays on set to keep an eye on Lila. Hotch, Elle and Gideon find her agent dead. Gideon calls Reid and tells him the manager is dead. They take Lila home. Reid goes over safety procedures with her. She receives a collage. Morgan leads a team to the photographers and he is clearly obsessed. Reid’s in a lot of the photos and he might be targeted too. As Morgan exits someone on a motorcycle shoots at him and the LAPD officer, the officer gets shot. Garcia’s search shows that Lila has never publicly told anyone her favorite flower, so it’s someone she is close with. Back at Lila’s she goes for a swim and freaks out Reid. She tricks him and pulls him in. And then she kisses him. He tells her the truth about her manager being dead. They get out of the pool and Reid tries to dry off. Morgan arrests the photographer. Back in the house, Gideon takes the blame for withholding the information from Lila. What she says triggers something in Reid’s brain and he starts seeing things in the collage. He dismantles the collage to create the individual photos, from college to now. They question his classmate about the collage. The art came from Maggie Low. They call Reid and give her the name. Lila knows Maggie. Maggie calls her. Reid calls Garcia to get a trace. Maggie tells her about a night when the heat went out and how that was her happiest moment. Garcia tells Reid that Maggie is in the house. They search the house, while Garcia sends back up. But Maggie finds them first. Maggie is armed and Reid tries to distract her. It distracts her enough that he can get the gun. He comforts her instead of shooting her. Reid and Lila say their goodbyes. Back at the office, Morgan tells Reid he was Lila’s hero.

Synopsis: A man sits in a chair in his boxers. He starts taping foil all over the windows. It’s raining outside. A hooded man hails a cab. The cabbie pulls over to drop him off. He gets out and murders the cabbie. At the BAU Hotch presents a case. They hop on the plane and head to New York for the case. On the plane, they discuss the unsub’s profile. They arrive at the cabbie’s murder scene and break it down. Other members go to a female victim’s house to collect data as well. At the station the team delivers a partial profile. The unsub goes to a church. A woman asks if she can help him and she witnesses him killing the priest. Derek, Elle and Hotch question the witness. She didn’t see his face though because he was wearing a hoodie. She is able to describe his behavior though. Reid takes a closer look at the weapon the unsub stabbed in the victim’s ear and it’s made of flint. Hotch calls Garcia and asks her to check if the victims have ever been charged with a crime. All the victims were acquitted of crimes. This unsub is a vigilante who is killing people he thinks are guilty and still got off. To make matters worse someone leaked the details of the case to the media. The team have dinner together at a Chinese restaurant. Gideon gets a call; another person has been murdered. Back at the station they do a deeper analysis. They begin to narrow their search. JJ speaks to the reporter who leaked the story. She brings him in for Gideon to interview. The reporter is not a suspect. In a park, he shoots another person. At the station, a man turns himself in as the killer. He’s not the killer though. They determine it’s a court reporter. Garcia begins to search and finds a court reporter connection. The same reporter transcribed all the cases. But he’s not in court, nor is he at his apartment. When they search it they find over a 100 flint knives. There are hundreds of cases in his apartment and anyone of them could be his next victim. Gideon sees one that looks the most likely to be his next victim. But he’s too late, the vigilante is already there. Now he’s taken the man and his wife hostage. Gideon charges in to save the wife. Hotch joins him and they try to talk him down. Gideon gets him to release the male hostage though he does injure him. The sniper takes out the killer.

Synopsis: In New Mexico some teenagers are partying in an empty house. One heads upstairs to the bathroom. But she actually holds the candle to a window, then sneaks downstairs and opens the back door. She walks outside and is kidnapped. We see a knife in the air. At the BAU Garcia and Elle notice a cute guy. It’s Hotch’s brother, Sean. He informs Hotch he’s not going to college, he would rather be a chef. All the ladies are enjoying the view as Sean storms off. JJ informs the team of the massacre in New Mexico. The team arrives on the scene. Reid posits that the kids were skinned alive. Reid believes that each act committed was an act of war by native americans. They go to the reservation to ask Blackwolf some questions. They take him to the scene. Blackwolf states that what was done was a mixture of multiple tribes war rituals. No true native American would ever combine them. They deliver the profile to the local police. After the sheriff alerts them to some other possibilities. The team talks with and then discuss Minten. Garcia calls and has tracked down the missing girl, Ingrid. Her dad is interviewed. He doesn’t behave normally. The father does a TV appeal. The kidnappers call in and reveal that they were hired by the father to kidnap her. They turn themselves in. Both get interviewed and provide the same story. Now they put her father in the hot seat. Reid talks to Ingrid, but she is uncooperative. She just repeats her named and social security number. The sheriff pops in and tells Gideon that Minten checks out, he did not do it. Hotch asks Greisson how long his daughter has been in a cult. The officer watching the Minten’s house get attacked and so do the Minten’s. They are all dead. The father is questioned again. He gives them a few words that were programmed into her by the cult leader. Ingrid is brought to the most recent murder scene. Blackwolf gives her the tour. They get her to reveal some important information, the location where the group is staying. Garcia also found a suspect, Jackson Calley. Blackwolf speaks of an abandoned hotel in the deadlands and they head there. They only find Jackson Calley. Hotch interviews him. Calley antagonizes Blackwolf. Back at the station, Elle announces that all Minten’s weapons were stolen. Now he’s trying to start a war. The cult members enter the school, but the kids are safely out of harm’s way. One by one Hotch and Blackwolf take out the cult members. Blackwolf is fighting with one as two storm in with guns. Hotch shoots one and the other gives up. Hotch turns up in New York to see his brother and apologize.

Synopsis: A man discusses a book he wrote about a serial killer. After the presentation, he signs autographs. Gideon is there and talks with him. He’s a retired agent named Max Ryan. While talking a security guard gives Ryan a note. It appears that the serial killer is back. Back at the BAU everyone is called in. Reid analyzes the note. The keystone killer’s return is now all over the news. The team arrives on the scene of the most recent murder. Reid and Hotch find another crossword at the crime scene. At the station, they bring the local authorities up to speed on the case. The team compares the old crime scene photos to the new ones in an attempt to understand why his M.O. has changed. They have a possible suspect and they bust into his house. He has a dust up with Elle. They begin a search of every square inch of the house. Hotch discovers something strange with the bed. He pulls out a drawer under the bed. It has a woman in it that’s been held captive. When they exit, Morgan finds a note for Ryan. The note is from the Keystone Killer. Back at the station the team regroups. Again the changes in M.O. are discussed. Ryan points out that he would not have changed his M.O. by choice. Morgan calls Garcia to try and search medical records to narrow down a suspect pool. JJ holds a press conference and it does not go well. The search through records continues. Gideon and Ryan discuss the book he wrote and the killer. Ryan joins the team. Reid gets an idea about car accidents. Morgan again calls Garcia will more detailed information about the possible car accident. Garcia finds an accident quite close to the last victim. It’s Walter Kern. They get an address and head to his home. However, Walter is at his next victim’s home. Mrs. Kern answers the door. His wife is confused. Max asks if Walter has a room in the house that no one is allowed to enter. She say he has a dark room. She takes them to the dark room. Gideon finds the scrapbook. The whole cellar is full of evidence of what he has done. Reid realizes that the new victims are not actually “new.” He is finishing his original kill list. Back at the scene of the current crime the whole team arrives. They quietly enter the house and hear her scream. They arrest Kern and save Sylvia. Gideon lets Max put the cuffs on Kern.

Synopsis: The team head to meet with a pair of serial killers. At the prison the female of the pair is put on her death watch. At the command center the team goes over the 12 murders. Some of the team head back to the house where the crimes were committed. After leaving the scene Elle and Morgan go to speak with Sarah Jean’s mother. Gideon and Reid go to visit Sarah Jean. Gideon compliments her paintings. He simply asks why those girls had to die. When Derek and Elle try to speak with her mother they don’t get a very warm response but they don’t get turned away. They learn that Sarah did not have a good relationship with her father. He was abusive to the mother. Back at the prison Sarah Jean has an encounter with Jacob, but she knows it was designed. Elle calls for Gideon and reads the letter that Sarah sent to her mom. She didn’t kill them but she feels that they died because she did nothing. Gideon tries to get her a stay of execution, but fails. She confessed to killing her son so he would need to prove that it was Jacob who killed him. Meanwhile, JJ comes up with an attempt to make him talk. She goes in because she is his type. Gideon meets with Sarah again and analyzes her paintings. Hotch is going to play poker with Jacob to try and get more names. Gideon and Sarah continue to talk. Hotch wins the poker game. Jacob tells him there are no other bodies. They play a bluff on Jacob and he tells them where the babies body should be. But they body is another victim, not the child’s. Garcia finds out some additional information. He tells her about the newest victim. She cleaned that victim’s house. Gideon has deduced that she did not murder her son Riley. Gideon asks the warden for five minutes in Sarah Jean’s cell. So the warden takes her outside to see the moon for the last time so Gideon can search her cell. He takes the back off of one of the paintings and finds a newspaper clipping with a boy playing the cello. Back at the command center Gideon wants the photo circulated as a missing person. As Jacob gets taken to the chamber he tells them he killed 18 people. Even though he has confessed to killing 4 more people they can’t stop the execution. While she is being prepped for her execution she discovers that the picture is missing. Before they execute Jacob Hotch shows him the picture of Riley and he is angry and then executed. Gideon returns the photo to Sarah and tells her that Jacob is gone he can’t hurt him. She informs him that her choice to confess to Riley’s murder had nothing to do with Jacob she only wanted to protect her son. Gideon comes up with some answers. They’ve located Riley. He’s in Keystone Heights. Gideon tries to get a stay but the warden says it can only come from the governor. She tries to make him understand that she doesn’t want his life tainted by what Jacob has done. Morgan and Elle make it to the home but no one is there. A car pulls ups. They have the song. She asks Gideon not to make her son Jacob’s last victim. He hugs her and grants her wish and says it’s not the boy. She asks one final favor of Gideon, if he would be the last thing she sees. Later, Gideon goes to a cello concert.
