Synopsis: From the war room, they call those that are not on the island and show them the cross. Laird is not quite sure what to make of it, as he has not seen anything like this before. Laird doesn’t think it’s been exposed to air, as there isn’t a white patina on it. Back at the money pit, the digging on H8 continues. Since hitting what appears to be a hard, flat surface they have switched to a slightly smaller can to continue the dig. Jack has found pottery in the spoils from about 150 feet deep. The brothers check in with the geologist. He feels the team is in some kind of vault or void. The vault seems to have disappeared. Rick and Gary Drayton head back to Smith’s Cove where they found the cross to do more metal detecting. Gary finds another piece of lead. It’s an odd shape and possibly a spoon. Gary feels that the storms are uncovering items. The spoils from 162 feet are examined and good things are found including a bone and pottery. Marty is frustrated that putting a small shaft in H8 got so many results but when going with the large casing they don’t get very much else. Craig thinks that whatever it was has either gone past it, or it was pushed out of the casing path. That evening another meeting takes place in the war room. They are getting new results from a metal detecting probe that was run down all the small-bore holes. The expert explains the results. It shows that at around 150 feet there are significant anomalies in H8. It also shows that not all the bore holes went straight down, some have deviated. Again, everyone meets in the war room with a few more people to decide on more drilling or to stop the drilling. They now want to take a look at an area south of where they have drilled. While deciding on the next drill site, Craig announces that he will be leaving the island for the rest of the season. He wants to be with his wife to grieve the loss of his son, Drake. They decide on the last hole and also to name it DMT after Drake.

Synopsis: At the money pit dig site, H8 is now at about 115 feet. A lot of wood is coming up. The team believes they’ve found the Chappell Shaft. Rick, Marty and the team meet with Doug Crowell in the war room. He’s brought an 8-page ships log. It speaks of landing on Oak Island prior to 1744. They got here before a French armada. Their orders were to take back Acadia. However, the fleet was overcome with storms, illness and lots of death. So that attack never happened. Dog reads the transcript of the ships log. It says they’re in the bay and carrying a large quantity of treasure. They dig a deep pit to bury and secure the treasure. Doug links it to the French family that Rick and his nephews met with. Rick checks on the H8 dig. The casing is at 155 feet and 150 feet for excavation. The depth of 160 feet is what they are watching for. The spoils from this section are being carefully monitored and gone through by Jack and also by Gary. Gary is getting some strong hits. Jacks finer pile of spoils has a lot of smaller wood pieces and also a piece of bone and more pottery. The oscillator has come to a stop at 170 feet. It seems to be sitting on something flat and it can’t cut through whatever it is. Is this the Chappell Vault? Rick and Marty speak with the lead to decide how to proceed. Jack also lets them know he’s run out of water to go through the spoils. Everyone meets in the war room to discuss and figure out how to move forward. The spoils from the zone of interest hasn’t been searched yet. The water ran out just as they got there. They decide to install a permanent inner casing so that they can explore the H8 shaft in more ways. The next day, the casing installation is beginning. Rick and Gary head back to Smith’s Cove at low tide to search and metal detect. They check the beach and inner tidal zone. He finds a bottle cap. He gets another hit and as Rick is digging it out, Gary gets seriously excited. He can actually see it’s a cross. It has a square hole and is heavy. Gary says it’s lead and possibly medieval. He gives a date of 1200 to 1600. Rick recognizes the shape of the cross. He saw a carving like it in the Templar prison in Dome. Gary insists it’s a religious artifact and that Rick have it looked at. The two call Marty and Craig via video. They’re just as shocked.

Synopsis: The dig continues. They are now 10 feet down and adding a new casing and bolting it together. It will take 4 to 5 days to get to 150 feet. Rick and the nephews travel to France to meet the researcher. She has found a connection with Oak Island and the Templars. The HO Stone. It is a Christogram. On the island, Laird returns. They head back to the site where they had to stop working. They now have a permit and Laird will lead an archeological dig. Rick, his nephews and the researcher arrive at the castle. The castle is built on a rock, it has no foundation. They all sit together at a table and Rick shows her a copy of the map. He asks her about the translation. She determines the writing is in Old French or slang. One translation was not about a drink, but instead “towards the west.” After the meeting, she gives Rick the key to go down to the rock. On the island, the excavation at the site continues. Laird is removing dirt and the others are sifting what he excavates. While sifting they find a small piece of pottery. The foundation is partially uncovered but it’s not big enough to be a house. In France, Rick and company are now exploring the rock that the castle is built on. They didn’t find any carvings though. She explains there aren’t carvings because the course of the river was moved under the castle for leather tanning and the river most likely washed all the carvings away. They move on to meet Templar expert Jerry Glover. He takes them to the Dome house, where Templar’s were imprisoned. He shows them carvings in the wall and tells them they used their nails and teeth and whatever they had to make them. They also see the French family’s coat of arms. There are all kinds of different images including crosses, the tree of life, Tanit and other figures. They return home and share the information they learned with the team. The H8 dig is still going and will shortly reach a depth of 50 feet.

Marty drops a symbolic coin down the small H8 shaft. In the war room the bones are discussed. The Middle East bone is 1682-1736. The European bone is 1678-1764. These were found at 162 feet and no one is quite sure what to think. The team meets with an historian at a pub. The discuss the map from Zena. The name on the map is that of Crusader Kings. He tells them about a special collections room in the library at the college he works out. Gary joins them and they do some metal detecting and digging. He finds part of a horseshoe. They also find several sunken wells in the ground, but they team thinks they are old shallow search pits. Grapeshot, cannon ammunition is also found. A coin in an irregular shape is found as well. Synopsis: The head of the Geotech drilling company stops by to check on the progress. At this point they’ve drilled 44 holes. The hole that they are most interested in is H8. They want to drill a 50” hole at this location. Meanwhile, Paul Speed, an area historian meets with the team. He tells them that a way to mine under the ocean floor was discovered in England. He also tells about Sir Francis Drake and an Inca city that he raided. He feels that there is a vault that has multiple treasures in it, but that it was also forgotten and that is why it’s been untouched so long. He continues on to say he believes Sir Francis Drake is buried on Oak Island. Jack, Charles, Gary Drayton and Laird go back to lot 26 to metal detect. They find a wall, but it looks different than the rest of the walls they have found on the island. While exploring the area, they find a square shape in the ground. Laird tells them that a permit is required to dig on that lot. At St. Mary’s the scrap turns out to be parchment. There is also a piece of black leather. She states its parts of a book and book binding. They find another depression. The area gets cleared so Marty can bring in the backhoe to excavate. While digging they find concrete but Marty can’t dig any deeper. The team gets additional information on the bones. One is European and the other is Middle Eastern. At the money pit, the equipment is being brought in to drill H8.
