Synopsis: The brothers look at all the timbers brought up from the third hole. It appears that it’s just been clay since those timbers were brought up. They are at around 120 feet depth at this point. This grab brings up a circular piece of wood. A wedge of wood is also brought up. A rainstorm hits and they can continue to work in the rain. Lightning starts and the crew is forced to shut down operations because of all the metal. The brothers take all their finds over to Dan’s house to get his opinion on them. Marty shows him the round log and asks if it could be one of the original logs found on the ten foot platforms. Dan holds his opinion until the carbon dating comes back. Rick, Charles and Jack take a couple of stonemasons to see Nolan’s Cross. The rock they show them is the one that is carved like a face. They determine it is sandstone. A second rock is shown to the masons. It’s the granite stone at the bottom of the cross. The two are speechless and believe it’s been altered by humans. The bottom is extremely smooth and it would have to have been drug a long distance to achieve that. The team meets later that night in the war room to discuss the carbon testing results. Results are from the 1600’s, including the round oak log. This round log is not the kind of material that any previous treasure hunter has used. It has to be from the original money pit. The storm has cleared enough that the money pit dig and bore hole T1 has resumed. Wood is not coming up anymore, just clay. The can is at 148 feet and so is the excavation. They are anticipating wood on this hammer grab, but it’s only clay. The next grab is only clay as well. The brothers are very confused that they are only getting clay. They’ve hit a wall, so to speak. The excavator teeth have hit something that may be metal and has brought them to a halt. They try to break though and the hammer grab brings up slate. It may be the bedrock. It is bedrock and this hole is terminated. Marty and Rick are both disappointed. Marty wants to quit and Charles gives him a pep talk. Back at the war room they regroup and call Craig and update him. Marty wants to give up on the money pit, but Rick won’t let him cry “Uncle!” Craig is on board for a fourth bore hole. Marty does not want Rick to have regrets, so they decide on a fourth hole. Rick gets to pick the fourth hole location. Rick already knows where he wants to dig. He wants to chase the debris field of a tunnel implosion during a dig in the late 1800’s. Marty likes his logic as well. Rick pays him a tribute. The next day Rick tells Andrew about the fourth hole and gives him the location of the hole. They mark it and label it GAL1. Andrew gets the equipment moved to dig the new hole. The excavating casing is swung into place.

Synopsis: The first two bore holes did not get them the results they wanted. They have let Craig pick the third bole hole. So far they have not hit water on this hole. In the war room, they speak with a researcher. He enlisted the help of a professor and his assistant to assist with the cipher. They’ve determined that French is the language the cipher was created in. A translation is brought about, but it’s incomplete. There is also an inscription on this cipher that translates to one of seven. Which means 6 other pieces are missing and all 7 are needed to solve the Oak Island mystery. Rick, Dan Henske and Jack head to Smith’s Cove the next day to continue searching for the box drains. For today’s work, they have hired a professional operator for the excavator. As the digging begins water starts pooling in the pit. They are forced to quickly set up a drainage pump to remove this new water. Jack jumps into the hole. There is a mysterious pattern of rocks. The archaeologist isn’t sure what it is either. It is determined to be an anomaly. They are forced to stop digging as they get too close to the coffer dam and they can’t risk compromising it for their own safety. In the war room, they meet with the owner of a small island just off the coast of Oak Island. He shows them surveys that were down on the island. It proves the island was man-made. He states that his island is connected by several tunnels to Oak Island. He presents additional pieces of evidence. After his presentation, he makes them an offer to be a consultant for one season to allow them to use the information he has. He’d get a 15% cut of anything found using that data. The whole team returns to Smith’s Cove. Marty hops in the excavator bucket to get lowered into the hole to examine it more closely. He determines it’s man-made. Dan makes the trip over. He believes it’s a box drain also known as a French drain. The coffer dam is too close to excavate the whole system. It would need to be reinstalled farther out and be considerably larger. The archaeologist states that it is a man-made structure. That afternoon, they head to T1 for an update on the progress. Vertical timbers have been pulled up. They’ve been hand cut. This find is a first for the team. A different kind of wood is also pulled up. It’s shaped like a log and based on the smell is very old. Craig wonders if it could be from the original money pit. They send a portion of it for testing.

Synopsis: Rick and Alex are still at the Roosevelt Library doing research. The Marie Antoinette crown jewels theory is discussed. Before heading back to the island Rick video chats with Marty and gives him a summary of what he saw and researched. Rick goes to visit Zena. The documentation and the new map she presented via video conference is discussed. In person, she shows them her research and also tells about the book she is writing about the Templars. Rick is shocked that the story of Oak Island could go back 1,000 years, but it’s still just a theory. Back on the island the focus is Smith’s Cove. They have a new coffer dam contractor and will try again to inflate it. It successfully inflates and they begin searching for the box drain system. As they excavate they find coconut fiber. Dan Henske is picking where they dig. But Jack halts everything quite excitedly. He has spotted wood that is blackened. They’ve asked Charles Barkhouse to come down and take a look. Another board has also been found. The team doesn’t know where to drill next in the money pit so they go to Dan’s house to look through his massive collection of data. Based on the data the brothers think that the holes they have drilled so far have just barely missed. Craig decides on the third drill hole. He’s trying to thread the needle and not hit previous drill shafts.

Synopsis: Mike is in the bottom of the C1 shaft and he’s getting hits with his metal detector. His dive concludes and he surfaces. He tells them about the hits he got. John Chatterton has decided that he will make the next dive and he suits up. He reaches the bottom. All the dives have stirred up the silt and he has no visibility. He’s not getting any metal detector hits. They group meet later that evening in the war room for a debriefing of the three dives in C1. John speaks of an irregular fissure that he can reach his arm into. He also tells of a tunnel that is not straight. He and his team do not believe it was man-made. They have to wait until everything settles again before they can make any more dives. Terry invites them out to Peggy’s Cove to see something. He shows them a rock that is carved to look like a face. He believes it’s styled in the same way as native art. It’s possible it’s a carving of Prince Henry Sinclair. A baring is taken to see what direction the stone face is pointing. He determines 5 degrees of due west, which means it’s pointing at Oak Island. They meet back in the war room and video conference with Craig to decide what to do next. David wants to airlift 10X. Marty decides to drill and third hole and airlift 10X. They will do the airlifting first. The airlift system is set up on 10X. They start the airlift has Dan watches anxiously.

Synopsis: The team has brought in Brian Abbot to do some sonar scans of 10X. Marty wants to know if the chest is still in the same place or if it’s been moved. If the chest is in the same place, then John never found it. Will he find both the chest and the rock that John moved? Brain will compare the first scan with his new scan. In Brian’s most recent scan the chest appears to be gone. Now 10X is in question. Craig suggests cleaning up the bottom of 10X and removing the silt. Now the focus heads back to C1. John has arrived and so has the scanning sonar. They drop the scanning machine to the bottom of C1. Blaine will begin to do the scan. The first scan shows a shaft. It’s to determine if it’s safe for a diver to go down. He’ll try and get all the data together by the end of the day to present. Later that evening he presents. The cavity is about 10 feet and has a corridor. It’s also about 7 feet high and about 10 feet by 10 feet. John and his team prepare to dive. John is lowered down on a Bosun’s chair. He’s more than 170 feet underground and he begins to explore the chamber. John says the structure is sound. Visibility at the bottom is bad. The bottom is soft clay. There is no water movement. The walls are rough and irregular in shape with sharp edges. John hits his time limit. When he surfaces, he confirms there is a tunnel off the chamber and that it’s slightly smaller than the caisson. The follow up dive is being made by Mike. He will take a metal detector with him. He’s getting metal detector hits. The items getting hits seem to be embedded in the cavern walls. Mike might have located the object the team saw last year.

Synopsis: The team is at C1. They are putting a camera down it to see what they can see. In the bottom they don’t’ see any shiny gold things, but they do see an object that looks like a shiny rock. Also, there are marks that look like 90 degree angles. As they go farther down the hole, visibility worsens. They pull up the camera and decide to hammer grab and run sonar, a diver is also possible. Charles and Gary Drayton go to Lot 24 to investigate. It’s one of the lots owned by Samuel Ball. They metal detect and find a button, six coins and a lead ingot for making musket balls. Marty joins them. He’s excited about what was found. The group gets together in the war room and meet with Randall Sullivan. He thinks he has identified the architect of Oak Island’s mystery. He thinks it’s Francis Bacon who spearheaded whatever is hidden on Oak Island. He also thinks that something more valuable than gold is hidden on the island. The next day everyone is back at C1, the hammer grab is being lowered down. Dan joins the group. As they go through the spoils of the first grab they find something they cannot identify and ask Dan to identify it. He says its old decaying wood and its interesting and should be saved. Rick finds something else. Dan calls it odd as hell and also states it’s not bedrock. He also says the rock that was pulled out doesn’t belong either. He’s never seen it in his 50 years of digging on the island. Up comes the second scoop and wood is sticking out. Charles finds more wood in the spoils. Rick wants to send a sonar down as well as an ROV. Back in the war room more discussion takes place on the next steps. Rick wants John to come back and dive it. They call John and his team to ask them to dive it and they accept.

Synopsis: Marty and Rick discuss their disappointment at finding a searcher tunnel from the Chapel era. They close the chapter on the first hole and move on to the second one. Some very large rocks have been pulled out of the second hole. They shift to the swamp while the second hole is being dug. They’ve got a 63 horsepower pump this time to drain the swamp. The water will be moved to the cave in pit, where a pervious underground searcher tunnel collapsed leaving a giant hole. To set up the drainage they have to dig a little tunnel under the road to not affect the trucks going to the money pit. Back at hole two the dig is progressing nicely. Marty is running the excavator in the swamp. Jack metal detects in the hole, but gets no hits. Marty removes more dirt and when Jack detects again he gets a random hit but it disappears. Charles Barkhouse and Randal head to a small town where they have been granted access to the archives. They get to see a map from 1883. This map says that Kidd’s Treasure is on Oak Island. Back at the swamp Marty digs a few more holes. No more hits anywhere. Marty calls it. He puts everything he dug up back and smooths it out. Rick asks for more metal detecting on the swamp before they turn off the pump. At hold two the drill team has hit a snag. A large rock is preventing them from going farther. They drop in the drill bit to make their way through it. Rick brings Gary Draydon to metal detect. He wants to cover everything. He does get a hit. It’s a nail or spike that resembles a railroad spike. Gary says it’s a deck spike for a Spanish galleon or sailing ship. Everyone meets up at the local pub to discuss what’s been going on. Back at C1, the drill bit is making its way to the cavity. One of the crew comes over and tells the team the hole is drilled through.

Synopsis: The team is in the war room discussing the vault and how to proceed on excavation. Marty is concerned that it might not be a structure, but just some planks form a previous treasure hunter shaft. They decide to proceed with an airlift. They will force and water down the shaft and try to bring up something from below. The first attempt they learn that water is flowing into the bore hole as fast as they are pumping it out. They will not be able to use this method to bring anything up. The hammergrab tool will go back into play. Two inches at a time to get to the roof of the vault. It comes up with more pieces of wood. One of the pieces of wood has 6-inch core drilled out. They are on the exact same spot as last time. Now it’s open. They send the hammergrab back down to try and get something. This grab pulls up straight pieces of wood with clay. Everything matches the Chapel Vault so far. Upon closer inspection, the wood has circular saw marks. Rick wants Dan to take a look at the wood. Gary Drayton is working with Alex and Jack in the area that was owned by Samuel Ball. He is using a tool that will detect up to three feet below ground and tell you what kind of metal it is. Rick and Charles take the wood to Dan’s house to get his opinion. He thinks it’s a 3-foot circular bladed and would date to after 1750. It’s most likely part of Chapel’s shaft. So now they have to decide to continue working the shaft they’ve dug or move on to their second dig location. Back to Lot 6, the metal detector is getting hit after hit. They find a rusted chain and round piece of metal that looks it’s in a ring shape. Another coin is also found. The next day in the war room the team discusses the second bore hole they plan to drill. They also rewatch the video shot in the small-bore hole last year. Drilling C1 is now beginning. The target depth is 170 feet.

Synopsis: The Money Pit dig is happening. The second casing is now going in. They want to find the Chapel Vault. As the casing is ground into the ground, a hammer grab is digging a hole through the casings actually digging the hole. Charles and Jack go through the first load of spoils from the hole and find wood. They metal detect and get a hit. It’s a shell casing from a bullet. They get a second hit with the metal detector it may be piece of silver. Rick, Marty and some of the team go to a resort to meet a writer. He wrote an article about Oak Island. His name is Randall Sullivan, now he wants to write a book about it. They take him to see the money pit. Randall draws a comparison to Dunfield’s excavation. But Marty points out that they are not causing mass destruction. Rick, Craig and Jack head back to the Hatch to investigate more. They now have a permit to dig here. They try to hammer rebar into the ground, but it stops at about 1 foot down all around. It is possible that this location was where a small treasure was buried and retrieved. The team has nearly drilled all the way to the depth that they want. Randall goes with Charles to meet Dan Blankenship. They discuss the treasure of Peru and the Incas. At the Money Pit, they are at a depth of 137 feet with the casings. Now they are watching for wood. As they continue to dig there is still no wood, only mud. Still no wood, so they continue to dig. Everyone on the team, except for Marty, starts to get worried. Finally, the hammer grab brings up wood. The wood is found within a food of where it should be. Marty wants to keep digging and pull up the treasure. Rick wants to go slowly. Do they just keep digging or do they go a different way? They temporarily halt the dig to decide on the best way to proceed.
