Summary:
Sophia is going out and asks Dorothy for money. Dorothy wants to know what happened to the money she already gave her. And is shocked to learn where it went. Dorothy expresses her concern about Sophia’s current group of friends. Rose announces that Buzz Mueller is in town. She explains she dated him in high school at the same time as Charlie. Everyone is shocked. Rose almost married Buzz. She didn’t because he got a call from the Spike Jones Band and went off to the music world. Even though she married Charlie, she never got over Buzz. Meanwhile, Sophia is hanging out with a new group of seniors. They like to stay out late. Dorothy is not happy. She gives Sophia an ultimatum and Sophia gives Blanche 30 days notice that she’s going to move. The next morning, Rose and Miles return from bird watching. He asks her to a movie that night. She tells him about Buzz. He’s surprised but ok with it. Dorothy asks why Rose did not tell Miles the truth about Buzz. Buzz finally arrives and meets everyone. That night she has a date with Buzz. She cancels on Miles who she already had a date with. And she talks with the girls about how she’s essentially in love with two men at the same time. Buzz arrives and his outfit is quite a site. He was at band rehearsal, they are going on tour in Europe. Rose tells Buzz about Miles and that he’s her boyfriend. He expresses regrets about leaving her 40 years ago. They discuss when he left on the train. They leave for dinner. Rose shocks them when she comes back from her date with Buzz. He’s asked her to go to Europe with him. Rose didn’t tell him no or yes. She’s thinking about it. Then Sophia announces she has found a new roommate and is leaving. Dorothy tells them not to worry Sophia will be back in the morning. Everyone is upset because they would go talk to Sophia in the middle of the night when they were upset. They all wind up in the kitchen that night unable to sleep. Rose tells them she is seriously thinking about going to Europe with Buzz. They don’t understand his hold over her. Blanche tells a story about someone she went out with in high school. The next morning Sophia is in her new place. She’s not comfortable with the maid. Dorothy and the girls arrive to check on her. Blanche is impressed with the art. They meet her room mate who is over 100 and senile. Dorothy asks her to come home. But Sophia says no because Dorothy still doesn’t like her friends. Back at the house, Miles arrives. He confronts Rose about Buzz. Buzz arrives shortly after they begin to talk. Rose admits she is confused and doesn’t know what to do. Miles gets upset but gives her time to think. He leaves and Buzz comes back out. Rose asks to spend more time getting to know him (Buzz). But he tells her the same thing he did 40 years ago. That he will go to Europe and then come back for her. She reminds him he never came back. He tells her because she got married to someone else. They both made mistakes. They are both even. This brings Rose back to reality. She tells him marrying Charlie was not a mistake. Miles storms back in moments later ready to physically fight with Buzz over Rose. Buzz makes a run for it. Miles demands she stop seeing Buzz. She readily agrees. He’s surprised. Sophia returns in the middle of all the drama.
