Summary:
Sophia waxes philosophical, but it’s really just an infiniti commercial affecting her. Rose is discussing weight loss products for work. Blanche comes back from the doctor’s office and she’s wearing a heart monitor. Her doctor thought her heart wasn’t beating the way it should, so she has to log her activity for the next 24 hours. She admits that she is scared. They all discuss fears. Later, Rose is testing out vacuum pants. Blanche comes back with bad news. The doctor wants her to have more tests in the hospital. She tells them she might need a pacemaker. She is scared. Rose tells her about a song her mom use to sing when she was scared. Days later, Blanche is admitted to the hospital to have a pacemaker put in. She’s done all her makeup in case something goes wrong so she’s ready for her funeral if need be. She’s freaked out about the scar. As they roll her off to surgery, Rose begins to sing the song. A retired veteran salutes. Sophia takes care of Blanche as she recovers. Sophia steals some items from Blanche to get her into the kitchen. Blanche tells them what it like being operated on and that she had an out of body experience. Weeks later, she’s out on a date with Simon. The girls all share stories about abstinence. Blanche comes back early with Simon and sends him home. Everyone is surprised. Then Blanche announces she is giving up sex. Everyone is shocked. In the next week Blanche eats tons of popsicles and becomes depressed. She’s still struggling with the pacemaker and the choices she’s made as a result of it. The girls are still surprised by Blanche. Now she has to figure out how to tell Simon. She brings him back after a date and explains the last time was the last time. Simon tries to comfort and reassure her. If they are over, he wants his goodbye kiss. She reacts to the kiss in a good way. Then she decides to take the plunge. The girls comes back from a movie and are worried because they see Simon’s car outside. They think the worst and rush to Blanche’s room just as they hear her start to sing Rose’s song.
