Summary:
Rose keeps humming jingle bells all day long, annoying Blanche. Dorothy and Sophia come back. It’s 103 outside in December in Miami. Dorothy had to fight someone to get the gift one of her grandkids wanted. They all start discussing past Christmases. Dorothy discusses soap shaped like the seven dwarves. Stanley arrives and gives her a gift that he recycled. He wants the girls to invest in a new company he’s starting. They throw him out. They then decide for gifts for each other they will draw names out of a hat. One will get a gift from Rose, and that could go in a bad direction. Rose tells them that her church is doing a holiday meal for the poor people in the neighborhood this year. All decide to go with her and help. They have the name draw. Blanche gets Dorothy’s name. Dorothy gets Sophia. Rose gets Blanche and Blanche gets Sophia. It’s now the girls Christmas celebration. Rose got a St. Olaf snow globe from her daughter. And made Christmas cookies with the 5th of July cookie cutters. Blanche finally opens the gift from Rose. She is shocked to find a beautiful blouse. They all go with Rose to do the Christmas dinner. They share more Christmas stories while they are preparing the meal. The doors are opened for those coming. They are shocked by how many children are present. There’s even a Santa Claus. But it turns out to be Stan. They learn he was trying to scam them out of money and Kate has thrown him out. Blanche tells a story about the USO. But it turns into a sex story. The girls and the father have a discussion about homelessness and it’s a sad one. Dorothy tries to cheer Stan up. The father worries about all these people’s needs, not just their spiritual ones. Stan surprises everyone by bringing fire trucks toys and giving one to each child.
