Summary:
Blanche’s date has ditched her and she is upset. She is worried she has lost her sex appeal to men. The girls also ask Sophia how she is doing as she has been sick for a week and they are worried. The doorbell rings and it’s Stan. He tells them he is marrying Katherine, a woman he met at the post office. The ring he has chosen for her is not much of anything. The girls decide to help him get something decent at least. It’s another morning and Blanche and Rose have just come back from helping Stan pick out a proper ring. This one cost a lot more, but you can see it now. Sophia is already in the kitchen and has a coughing fit. She tells them she can’t breathe and they call an ambulance. The girls are at the hospital waiting for news about Sophia and Stan joins them. A doctor finally comes out and gives them an update. Sophia has an advanced case of pneumonia. She is being moved to intensive care and Dorothy will not be allowed to visit her until she is better. That night Dorothy is still waiting at 1am. Stan brings her food and pays an orderly to get a doctor for an update on Sophia. The doctor finally comes out and gives an update that she is the same. He’s rude to Dorothy as well. Stan steps in and puts him in his place. Now Dorothy will get regular updates on Sophia. While the two continue to wait, they eat the lasagna that Stanley brought. They share memories of Sophia. Hours later, the doctor comes back out and tells them that Sophia is going to be ok and they can go visit her now. Stan takes his leave so Dorothy cand spend time with Sophia. Rose and Blanche come by to check on Sophia. They talk to Dorothy and she tells them she is still in love with Stan and can’t let him marry Katherine. The three freak out. Back at the house, Rose and Blanche discuss how to stop Dorothy from stopping Stan’s wedding. It’s a lengthy conversation in the kitchen. Rose tries to convince her it was just because of the stress of Sophia’s situation. Blanche reminds her of all the horrible things Stan has done to her. But she is not dissuaded. She decides to speak with Stan in the morning. The next morning she arrives at this room with the girls hot on her heels. They do all they can to stop her from having that conversation with Stan and it works. Dorothy goes to the hotel bar. She comes across Katherine. They have a conversation and Dorothy decides not to stop the wedding. The two walk to the wedding together.
