Synopsis:
Sopia is reading a letter. She tells Dorothy that the writer is coming to visit. Dorothy points out none of it is possible because this person is dead. Turns out Dorothy got the name confused. It’s actually a letter for Rose. Rose comes home. She picked up lottery tickets. Blanche arrives with a new old leather jacket. They all scratch off the tickets. Dorothy comes up with three palm trees. The ticket is worth $10,000. Rose comments that Blanche’s new jacket doesn’t look so great. Blanche puts the winning ticket in her jacket. Everyone decides to go out to dinner to celebrate their win. Sophia answers the door and it’s a man from the hospital thrift shop. He came by to pick up donations. She gives him the boxes, but Blanches jacket too. She doesn’t know the winning ticket is in the jacket. Later, Blanche is searching furiously for her jacket. Sophia finally admits the jacket missing is her fault. Everyone gets upset. She tells them she gave it to the man from the thrift shop. They all race to the shop when Blanche tells them she put the winning ticket in that jacket. They arrive and locate the jacket, but a giant man buys it and throws it out to “Michael.” They all realize that Michael is Michael Jackson. Everyone goes back to the house sad and disgusted. Blanche comes across an article about a celebrity auction. Their jacket and winning ticket might be in it. They race over. They arrive at the auction and the jacket is put up. A guy in the audience bids $10,000 for the jacket. The girls almost faint. He’s a congressmen trying to improve his image. He’s donated the jacket to a shelter. The girls race to find the shelter and get there in time. It’s closing as they arrive but they are allowed to stay there for the night. The girls are not sure what to do in the shelter. Sophia sees someone she knows. Each person has an encounter with someone that affects them. Later they look for the jacket. Dorothy finds the jacket. The girls give the father running the shelter the winning ticket.
