Favorite Quotes:

* Dorothy: I’ll bet that’s why Chicago burnt down. Mrs. O’Leary was probably a tramp too.
* Dorothy: Since I’ve already had the cigarette, why don’t you just blindfold me and shoot me?
* Blanche: I guess we forgot how hard it is to live with a man in the house.
* Rose: Dorothy, I know what you’re going through. I smoked for years.
Dorothy: You smoked? Rose, that’s like finding out Lassie was an alcoholic.
* Dorothy: It’s always the same thing with you, Blanche. Sex, sex, sex. I am tired of hearing it.
Blanche: Maybe that’s because you’re not getting any, Dorothy.

Synopsis:

At the house, the fire alarm goes off. There’s no fire, Dorothy is smoking cigarettes. Blanche calls the fire department but forgets why she called when the person who answers is one of the men she has dated. Dorothy ends her phone call. She admits she set the alarm off smoking. Sophia and Max return from the honeymoon. Dorothy begs the girls not to tell Sophia about the smoking. Sophia figures it out quickly. They say their goodbyes and head off to their new place. But then realize they forgot to get one. Sophia asks if they can stay there for a few days so they can find a place. Later, Max thinks it’s Sophia in the shower when it’s Dorothy. It’s been three weeks now and everyone is at their breaking point. Turns out they had not been looking for a place. They finally start checking them out. Max complains. They wind up down at the beach. They start talking about the old days and the business. A sax player is nearby and they request “It Had To Be You.” They enjoy more memories. At the house, Rose drops a bombshell on Dorothy: she used to smoke too. Dorothy is completely shocked. Sophia and Max come back to the house and announce they found a place. Turns out it’s not an apartment. It’s a small shop on the beach. They are going to open another pizza knish stand. The girls are shocked. Sophia states the idea is genius and deserves another chance. They try to talk them out of it but it doesn’t work. Max and Sophia are working on the renovations for the business. She starts working on the pizza’s. They need a little fine tuning. They are trying to have their grand opening the next weekend when there is a festival. Dorothy is worried she’ll get a cold working too late. Dorothy turns out to be right. Max is sick too. Sophia is upset because they need to make some money so they don’t lose the lease. The girls get guilted into helping. Dorothy is cranky due to cigarette (nicotine) withdrawal. Dorothy and Blanche fight over Blanche’s obsession with her favorite activity: sex. Blanche tells her that she dreamed of being a scientist and curing diseases, but then it turns to sex. The girls start getting depressed when they don’t have a customer for two hours. Rose then tells a story about a car that was invented in St. Olaf. Sophia comes down to check on the stand. She’s not thrilled to learn that they have only had two customers. She shouts shark a few times and gets everyone out of the water. Sales pick up. They wound up selling out. Back at the house, they get a call. The stand has burned to the ground. Dorothy thinks her smoking may have caused the fire. Dorothy feels even worse because Sophia won’t yell at her. The fire inspector tells them all that the cause of the fire was a faulty coil in the pizza oven. It was not Dorothy’s fault. The pair are not going to rebuild. Two important people were missing. The two decide to separate.
