Synopsis:
Rose gets a letter from an Elvis fan club. Her application to run her own fan club has been approved. She invites Blanche to be the first member. She accepts and volunteers to be president. Sophia joins them looking upset. When Dorothy asks her if she is ok Sophia tells her Ester Weinstock died. Sophia doesn’t want to go to the funeral because of Ester’s husband. He is the reason that the pizza-knish business went out of business. (This is a business where Sal and Sophia were partners with Ester and Max.) Dorothy convinces her to go when she offers to buy the plane tickets. At the funeral, Sophia tries to get Max buried with Esther. She trips him and he falls in. At the house, the confrontation continues. Max finally tells Sophia the truth. Sal lost a weeks worth of sales betting on a horse that lost. Max took the blame to save Sal and Sophia’s marriage. Sophia is shocked, but accepts it and apologizes. Back at the house, Rose and Blanche are having their first Elvis fan club meeting. They pass around an “Elivs artifact” of a pork chop he didn’t finish eating. Dorothy thinks it’s fake because he didn’t eat it all. They kick her out of the fan club. After the meeting they decide to go out for food. Dorothy goes to ask Sophia. She finds her in bed with Max. The two say they are getting married. Dorothy faints. Blanche decides the fan club meeting could use an Elivs impersonator. She wants to get membership up. There is a hiccup to the wedding. Sophia needs Dorothy’s blessing to get married according to Sicilian custom. Sophia then threatens to curse her but Dorothy counters her easily. It’s the day of the wedding and Sophia is getting cold feet. Max talks to her through the bathroom door and gives her a beautiful speech. The caterer gets into the conversation as well. Dorothy finally admits that she didn’t approve because to her it felt like Sophia would be cheating on Sal. She realizes how selfish she is being and finally relents and gives her blessing to Sophia and Max getting married. The ladies all wish her happiness as she comes out of the bathroom. When everyone gets out into the living room for the ceremony the wrong guests are there. It’s all the Elvis impersonators instead of friends and family. They still decide to get married. The girls discuss if they would ever get married again what requirements the men would have to meet. They will be still be single. As the wedding concludes, all the Elvis’s sing to the lovebirds.
