Synopsis:
Sophia wants to leave for Mother’s Day brunch but not everyone has gotten their mother’s day calls from their kids. The phone rings, and it’s Phil for Sophia. Dorothy tells a story about having to ask Stan’s mother for money on mothers day. Stan tried to butter her up and exit for a call. As soon as he leaves the trailer, his mother asks if they need money. She gives it to Dorothy but makes her promise not to tell Stanley she got it from her. Rose gets a call from Charlie, Jr. Blanche tells the story of the last mother’s day she had with her mother. She was ill and in a rest home. They talked about all the stunts she had pulled when she was younger. Now just Dorothy is waiting for a call from Michael. Rose tells a story about a mother’s day she spent with someone else’s mother. The woman is travelling to visit her daughter’s grave. The two discuss St. Olaf and those who live there. The woman went to a wedding in the 1950’s and Rose was the flower girl. She then tells the lady about how they use to welcome people to town and how it scared a man into a heart attack. The woman worries she’s not going to make her trip to visit her daughter’s grave. She tells Rose she ran away from her home and she’s likely going to get caught before the bus comes. Rose tells the officer that arrives that the woman is her mother and they are going home. They both get on the bus. Back at the house the phone rings again. It is Michael. Sophia then tells a mother’s day story. Her mother was coming over and they wanted her to move in. Sophia’s mother also tells her a story. Everyone wants to go to brunch now. Blanche hasn’t gotten a call from Janet but doesn’t think she will. She is surprised when the phone rings and it is Janet. Sophia gives up and starts cooking.
