Synopsis:
Dorothy finds Blanche and Rose exercising. The Harlan twins are taking them on a cruise to the Bahamas. Sophia leaves for a trip to Epcot. The doorbell rings and Dorothy thinks Sophia forgot something but it’s her son Michael. He tells her he is getting married. Dorothy is shocked to learn that the lucky lady sings in the band and they have only been dating for four months. He also informs her of something else about Lorraine: she is African American. The next day everyone is nervous awaiting Lorraine’s arrival. Rose points out she’s probably nervous to meet Dorothy. Dorothy then tells a story about the first time she met Stan’s mother. The doorbell rings and Dorothy answers it. It’s Lorraine, but Dorothy thinks it’s Lorraine’s mother. Dorothy apologizes. Michael had not mentioned the age difference or Lorraine’s age of 44. Everyone gets introduced. Dorothy and Michael fight over Lorraine’s age. No one can sleep and they all end up in the kitchen discussing Michael and Lorraine. Lorraine walks into the kitchen and is taken aback to find everyone there. They discuss weather, until they get brave enough to talk about what is going on. Dorothy is more concerned about the huge age difference than anything else. Lorraine tells them about her first marriage to the boy next door who she never loved. Later, Michael and Dorothy fight again. Later there is a knock at the door. It’s Lorraine’s mother Greta and her two sisters. Introductions are done by Lorraine and Blanche and Rose’s face masks make it a bit more awkward than it needed to be. Her family is also shocked by how young Michael is. Neither parent is happy about this marriage. Dorothy points out the age difference again. Sophia arrives home and meets everyone at the same time. Even she is shocked at the age difference. Rose tries to calm the situation. Lorraine’s family leaves upset. Another night Dorothy cannot sleep, and everyone winds up in the kitchen. They continue to discuss the age difference. Lorraine’s mother and two aunts come back to the house. They could not sleep either. They all sit in the kitchen to talk, eat cheesecake and drink coffee. Rose then spills the beans about Michael and Lorraine eloping. They all race to the chapel the pair are going to. Both parents tell them not to get married. Lorraine tells them they don’t have to see them if they don’t’ want to but that means they won’t see their grandchild either. Dorothy and Greta have a quick meeting to discuss this new bit of news. They now agree to the marriage. Everyone heads into the chapel to watch them get married.
