Synopsis: Exploration of the swamp begins. They turn on a pump and a hose springs a leak within minutes. They fix the issue and check the output. The water is being drained uphill. Peter Amundsen pays them a visit. He has a theory that there is a direct connection between the Oak Island mystery and the works of William Shakespeare. He says he’s the person who found the treasure map leading to Oak Island. He says there is a coded map in Shakespeare. He shows them select parts of documentary he made. Sir Frances Bacon bankrolled him. He’s believed to be a Rosicrucian and linked to the Knights Templar. The specific volume of work has strange typos and oddities. They lead to constellations. The Signus constellation matches and area of the island called “Nolan’s Cross.” At the center of the cross on the island, there is a stone with a face carved in it. Peter lays stones out on the table, and adding a few more says it’s the tree of life. That this is the treasure map and key to the island. With the “mercy” stone being the keystone. However, this stone is in the swamp. He believes that the golden Menorah of King Solomon’s Temple is under the mercy stone. He requests they search the part of the swamp that stone should be located in. They already plan to check out the entire swamp, so they will check out his specified area as well. Two days later, the swamp has only partially drained. The Mercy Point of the swamp is still under water. They go on a hunt to find the rest of the points/stones on this cross with Peter. They find a stone where Peter says one will be. They start digging, while Marty does a questionable Shakespeare impression. Peter says the rock they dug up was just too small and cannot be right. But Alex spots something a few feet away and it is a large stone. They dig it up. It’s the Kingdom stone and rounded on the back while completely flat on the top. They confirm the stone is granite and has three dots that form a triangle on the flat side. Marty is now willing to look for the mercy point. Since the swamp isn’t draining as fast as they had hoped they hire a helicopter to fly them over to check the drainage process and also to see if they can spot the mercy point. From the air they see the swamp is a perfect triangle and has to be man-made. They also realize they have only drained half the swamp. In the general area of the mercy point there are stones arranged in the shape of a diamond. They take some plywood boards to make a walkway on the swamp. Peter uses a rod to probe. It sounds hollow. He says that it’s a flat floor with stones over it. Peter has to leave, but Rick and Marty are now more determined. Frustration from the swamp not draining has led the brothers to take a new route. They have hired a metal detection company to sweep it for all metals. The Lorenz Deep Max X6 will be used and it will give a 2d and 3d map as well as identify specific types of metals up to 40 feet deep underground. While the machine is being assembled they do a scan with a regular metal detector. They get a hit and it appears to be gold. With some probing they find something flat and box like. Rick jumps in to check out what was found. He confirms that it is a flat area. The metal detector guy jumps in with him. He puts the metal detector straight on whatever it is and it goes crazy. Rick tells Marty. They are both excited.
