Sophia: I said I’d think about it. You can’t say no to somebody who pops for a $75 dinner. Tell them, Blanche.

Summary:
Rose is practicing diapering a turkey. Sophia and her friend Martha enter the kitchen. They just went to the funeral of Martha’s best friend Lydia. The baby arrives. They are watching the baby for a couple that is going camping for the weekend. They are not sure if it’s a boy or a girl, it’s wearing yellow. They decide to change the diaper and it turns out it’s a boy. Another evening and Sophia goes to meet Martha at a restaurant. She hits on the waiter. Martha is at the bar and the two have drinks. After they eat, Martha informs Sophia she plans to end her life the next day and would like Sophia to be there with her. Back at the house, the baby falls ill. He’s running a fever, and Rose declares it’s 103.2 degrees. They call Harry as he is the baby’s doctor. Meanwhile, back at the restaurant Sophia is horrified by what Martha has told her. She tries to convince her of all she has to live for. Blanche has changed into something sexy for when Harry arrives. The doorbell rings and it’s Harry. Blanche makes a pass at him like always. He asks about what she is wearing. He tells her his mother had one just like it. Harry checks the baby. He has an ear infection. He gives them medicine. It’s late at night and the baby still has not gone to sleep. Rose suggests a lullaby. Their singing wakes Sophia. They all go in the kitchen and Sophia tells them about Martha wanting to commit suicide. Dorothy is very upset. She forbids Sophia to participate in Martha’s suicide. Sophia starts getting philosophical with her. Rose tells a St. Olaf story. That night Sophia goes to Martha’s. Martha shows her an expensive diamond ring that she bought on time. She gives it to Sophia as a thank you. Sophia manages to talk her out of ending her life. Back at the house the baby’s fever finally comes down. Sophia returns and tells them the good news.
