Sophia: Scusi?
Dorothy: Ma, he’s tired of being a lawyer, so he’s joining the circus.
Sophia: What did you do to him?
* Rose: Sophia, I don’t know what all the hullabaloo is about. Dating a circus clown would be a dream come true for me
* Judge: How about something from a law book?
Ken: OK. The fracas occurred on a seaside dock abutting navigable waters. I don’t believe that this court has any jurisdiction.
Judge: That sounds legal to me. Counselor, your last day has been a good one. Case dismissed.
Summary:
Sophia talks about her journey to America. She came on a boat in horrible weather, and there was no music. Blanche and Rose have returned from a day out and Rose is upset because she saw a dolphin trapped in a net. She wants to do something about the dolphins. Dorothy interrupts the conversation to ask about her outfit. She has another date with Ken. Blanche is jealous. Dorothy explains that he volunteers on the weekends with kids. Sophia advises Dorothy not to blow it with this gorgeous lawyer. Sophia tries to help when he arrives, but she is still worried Dorothy is going to blow it. Rose and Blanche are stuffing mailers into envelopes for the dolphins charity. Dorothy gets a call that Ken wants to talk to her about something important. Blanche makes assumptions and gets jealous. It does cause Dorothy to get excited though. He finally arrives but he does not propose. He informs her he is giving up being a lawyer and becoming a clown full time with the circus. Dorothy tries to go with it. She goes to dinner with him and some friends from the circus, but it goes badly. Rose invites Dorothy to join them at the dolphin rally to take her mind off of Ken. She agrees. Dorothy tells Sophia what has happened. She becomes upset thinking Dorothy has broken him. Rose thinks it would be amazing to date a circus clown. Dorothy is not happy with the whole situation. The three are now at the rally. Ken is the topic of discussion, not the dolphins. Someone from the plant comes out and demands they all leave. He grabs at one of the girls and she punches him in self defense. Everyone winds up getting arrested. Sophia calls Ken and he arrives at the courthouse in his clown outfit. Ken defends them in the clown outfit. He gives a beautiful speech. The case is dismissed. Rose is still sad that it didn’t help. Dorothy breaks up with Ken, the clown thing is too much.
