Synopsis:
The girls have come back from a charity softball game. It’s hotter inside than outside. The air conditioner has broken. They call a repairman. Rose finds out that she has been nominated for St. Olaf’s woman of the year. She tells them about last year’s winner. Then exits to go write out her accomplishments. The doorbell rings and the air conditioner repairman has arrived. The next day Rose is upset. Her accomplishments are not much of anything. Dorothy and Blanche try to make her feel better. They remind her that her kindness is her greatest gift. Dorothy and Blanche decide to “punch up” Rose’s resume. Days or weeks later the doorbell rings. It’s the St. Olaf Woman of the Year Panel. They interview Rose and it gets a bit uncomfortable. Dorothy and Blanche jump in telling them how modest Rose is. They tell Rose she is a finalist. Now the girls are on their way to St. Olaf. There is concern about getting off the nice big plane and getting a little one. There is no airport in St. Olaf. Instead there is a creative way to get there. They start discussing hometown. Sophia tells about hers and the garbage and prostitutes and men hung from their heels in town. She gets teary eyed. Turns out it was Brooklyn and not Sicely. Rose tells them the rest of the trip and that they will arrive in a couple of days. The others are horrified. Dorothy and Blanche decide to tell Rose the truth. She stops them because they are going through Zumbro Falls. When they come out Sophia is missing. Rose thinks it’s the curse of the Falls. She was just in the bathroom though. They are on the final leg of the journey to St. Olaf now. Rose spots a treehouse that brings back memories. She calls out to her friend Ingrid, who actually responds back. The driver then tells her about Emma who she beat and what she’s done. Rose is shocked. Dorothy and Blanche confess fudging her biography at this point. Rose cancels the trip. Everyone is back at the house. Rose is still upset at them for lying. She finally forgives them. Harry has come over to bring them their mail. Blanche makes a pass at him and he becomes very uncomfortable and leaves. Something came for Rose from St. Olaf. She reads the note. It states she won the woman of the year award because embodies the values of truth and honesty the award stands for. Emma was disqualified because they found her husband’s remains in her closet. They all congratulate Rose on being St. Olaf’s Woman of the Year.
