Synopsis:
Blanche and Rose discuss the rain, but Blanche thought Rose was talking about a man. Sophia states she is going to the market to buy a nectarine. After she leaves the girls worry about her. The girls decide to catch up on some things they want to do around the house since it’s raining. Sophia is now at the market looking at the nectarines. She uses a creative way to get help picking out a good one. One of her friends is there trying to return some meat. Sophia tells an employee about NOPRL and gets her friend a refund. The girls are sitting around the table eating cookies and snacks. Then Blanche tells a story about a boy she dated with huge ears. Sophia stops at the boardwalk. She directs a band of seniors while they play music. She sits and talks with a few of the ladies. It’s her day to volunteer at the hospital too. Rose tells a St. Olaf story about the evils of wasting time. Sophia arrives at the hospital a little late. She gets updated on what’s going on. Sophia is asked to deliver some flowers but gives them all to one person. Sam shows up to see her as well. He’s a sick little kid. Back at the house, Rose is telling another St. Olaf story. Suddenly, a bell goes off, the cake is done. Dorothy then tells a story about her grandmother. Sophia talks with Sam. He reminds her that he’s sick because a blood transfusion messed up his blood. No one has ever beaten this disease. He got HIV/AIDS from a blood transfusion. Sophia comes home and thinks they are all ready for bed. They never got dressed. She tells them all she did was buy a nectarine and leaves out everything else she did that day.
