Synopsis: Rick and Gary go to Dan’s house to show he and Rick what they found. They show them the brooch. Gary thinks it’s at least 17th century. Dan requests that it get dated. Rick agrees. At the money pit, the seismic testing continues. They are averaging 100 blasts per hour. Laird meets the Rick, Marty and Gary at the visitor center. Gary shows him the brooch. Laird as never seen anything like it. He tells them jewelry is not something that is normally found on archaeological digs in Nova Scotia. The next day, members if Irving come out to meet with the team regarding the installation of the metal coffer dam. Before the equipment is brought in a road and platform have to be constructed. Rick, Marty and Dan go to see a gemologist to have the stones in both brooches analyzed. He looks at the first gem found first. He determines that it’s a hand cut garnet. The second stone is actually glass. He tells them its not modern glass but much older. Each recipe for making glass of each color comes from a specific maker and time period. Now he looks at the setting for the newest find. The way the wire was made is very telling. It could be older than the 1340s. He suggests they check with the British Gemological Society in London for more information on it’s age and origin. Rick, Craig and Alex take the setting to St. Mary’s College to have the metal tested. It’s made of copper for the most part. However, there is an area that is bright and they are told it is gold. Rick calls a meeting in the war room. He tells them about the brooch and that it is the first gold found on Oak Island. He then tells them about the brooch and the style went out in the 14th century according to the gemologist. Laird looks quite surprised at all the news. Rick and Dan Henske check on the progress at the money pit. They are informed that all the blasting is now done. Processing the data will take a few weeks and once its processed and ready to be presented they’ll be informed. The equipment to build the road and the coffer dam starts being brought in. The road and perfectly flat work surface for the crane are complete.
