Synopsis: They are drilling/coring back on the spot where the rig had to be shored up. We get a recap that coconut fiber was indeed found. A 17th century Spanish coin was found in the swamp. They are still trying to locate the original money pit. Previous discoveries in the Chapel Shaft are discussed, including flakes of gold. Next they try to drill in the triangle area. They have a quick meeting in the war room. Rick announces they again have a drainage permit for the swamp. Marty reveals the results from the final analyses of the swamp with the metal detectors. The final results are that there are only one or two actual hits in the swamp. Rick wants to continue working at the swamp, while Marty wants close that chapter. The brothers are at an impasse. So they take a vote. The vote is in favor of continuing to search the swamp. To check out the stump pulled out of the swamp they have called in a tree expert. Marty wants to know if the tree could have naturally grown in the swamp. The expert says that the tree is a hardwood, but that it could not grow in water. This has now made Marty curious about the swamp. The hole they drilled is clay filled. This is good news as the money pit is in a clay area. As the drilling continues they monitor what is coming through the sediment box. Suddenly, the water flowing through the output has increased. They’re not sure if it’s a new water source or they’ve hit a shaft that’s filled with water. But it could make the rig topple. The water flow suddenly stops. They taste the water and determine it’s not salt but fresh water. They take a sample to Dave Blankenship, he says it’s a fresh. They most likely hit an artesian well. Marty meets with Craig for a drilling update. It’s not the news Marty wants and he is concerned with the cost. Progress is happening at the money pit site. The rig is stabilized and able to drill to the depth. They begin the processing of coring. The pull the contents out of the core. It’s a big chunk of wood and also a lot of clay. There is also another substance that could be concrete. The wood has also got two separate orientations. They take the core to the war room to show Marty. Marty is excited, a top corner of the vault seems to have been found. They decide to drill more cores to find out which direction the vault is in. They also take the core sample to Dan so he can see it and analyze it. Dan notices the two different grains, vertical and horizontal. He thinks they might have found Chapel’s vault.
