Favorite Quotes:

+Dorothy: I told you, Rose, count me out. Even if it is for charity, I am not gonna stand up there and allow myself to be sold to the highest bidder like some Holstein cow at a livestock auction.

+Blanche: Don’t be a stick-in-the-mud. It’s for the Children’s Hospital. If you can’t degrade yourself for a bunch of sick kids, who can you degrade yourself for?

+Sophia: Oh, God, he’s proposing to her again. Will one of you raise your standards, please?!

+Stan: OK. I get the message. I guess I’m just not a person you want in your life. Am I?
Dorothy: Goodbye, Stan.

+Dorothy: Uncle Angelo, in the past three days you have complained about everything in the apartment except the rent. Reason being you don’t pay any.

+Sophia: Dorothy!
Dorothy: I can explain, Ma.
Sophia: No need to, Pussycat. Let’s move quick before the cops get here. You wipe for fingerprints, I’ll get a shovel and a Hefty bag.

Summary:

Sophia is making zabaglione for her brother Angelo. He’s flying in to visit. Rose is dieting for the bachelorette auction. Dorothy reminds Rose she has no interest in participating in something so degrading. They discuss the previous auction and Dorothy points out she got a weirdo. Dorothy finally agrees to participate, but she’s not happy. Since Dorothy is doing the auction the rest of the girls decide to chip in and find a decent guy to bid on her. It’s Blanche’s job to find one from her collection. But Stan arrives as well and learns of the auction. He tells Dorothy that his Uncle Morris died and they have been left an apartment building in his will. Rose is skeptical and tells a St. Olaf story. Dorothy is not interested in own real estate with Stan. Blanche tells her it could be a great opportunity and then lets slip how she is benefiting. Uncle Angelo arrives and loves all the hugs he gets. Sophia gives him the zabaglione and he starts to cry. He tells her he is broken-hearted. His girlfriend broke up with him for a sports player. He admits he spent all his money on her and is now broke. Sophia asks if Angelo can stay with them, but Blanche says no. Dorothy gets reminded she has an apartment building now. She’s hesitant because of Stan, not Angelo. She lets him stay in Uncle Morris’s apartment until she can figure it out. It’s now the auction. It’s Dorothy’s turn now. Stan pops up and bids $100, someone else bids and he ups it to $500 and wins a date with Dorothy. Thanks to Dorothy, they made $500 for the Children’s Hospital. Later, Angelo comes over with a lot of complaints about his apartment. There is also the issue of the house warming party he had. He invited everyone but Dorothy. Stan arrives and Dorothy tries to get out of her date with Stan. He is fine if she gives him the $500 he paid back. She suggests Thai food. She makes her point that they are not in a romantic relationship, they are business partners. He gets on the floor and begs. Sophia comes in thinking Dorothy killed him and starts coming up with ways to dispose of his body. Dorothy informs Stan she wants to sell her half. He says he’ll tear down the building and turn it into office space for himself. He’s blackmailing her with guilt. The pair finally come to terms with the end of their relationship.
