Favorite Quotes:
+Blanche: Oh, I hate him. God, if only he didn’t wanna talk.+Rose: You’d have some great times and some fabulous sex, but is that worth your self-respect?
Dorothy: Not now, loser.
+Dorothy: I’m sure this is a very worthy cause, but to be perfectly frank, at this moment, I couldn’t give a flying fig about whooping cranes.
+Dorothy: Blanche, what should I wear?
Blanche: If you’re gonna keep both feet on the floor something you can pull off over your head.
+Dorothy: Gee, it seems so strange not meeting you in a hotel room. I guess I shouldn’t steal the towels.
+Dorothy: The last thing my mother said to me was that she wanted me to keep my feet on the floor.
Glenn: My mother wanted me to be a priest.
Dorothy: I guess it’s a bad day for mothers.
+Rose: That was no nun. I work for a consumer protection show. We’ve been warning people about this for months. Once these scamsters have your money in an envelope, they make a switch and you wind up with worthless paper. They prey on the old and the gullible.
Blanche: Are you calling me gullible?
Rose: No.
+Rose: The reason these confidence men don’t get caught is because people are embarrassed to come forward and admit they were conned.
+Glenn: I’m looking forward to this. You meet the mother, it gives you a pretty good idea what the daughter’s gonna look like in 30 years.
Dorothy: Only if you lock me in the dryer.
+Sophia: I had to check him out. Dorothy’s a smart, attractive girl, but when it comes to picking men, she’s all thumbs. But she’s clean and she’s got good teeth.
+Dorothy: Ma, what are you doing up?
Sophia: Just having a Maalox moment.
+Dorothy: This whole thing is so rushed. Ma, I’m afraid. I’m too old to make another mistake. I don’t wanna make a fool out of myself.
Sophia: Pussycat, you’re never too old to make a fool of yourself.
+Glenn: Dorothy, if we were both 25, I could wait but I need someone in my life now.
Dorothy: Are you sure that you wanna marry me or are you just afraid to be alone? Who wants to be alone?
Summary:
Rose had a strange dream about the Peanuts characters. Blanche was with Mel Bushman the whole night. Blanche informs Dorothy she got a call from Glen somebody. This was the married man that Dorothy had an affair with 4 years ago. Sophia points out he could have just divorced his wife. Dorothy hopes he’s divorced now and calls back because Blanche didn’t get his number. Blanche is taking Sophia to the mall. Dorothy chooses to stay home by the phone. Glen calls and asks her out. She accepts. Sophia tries to dissuade her from going out with him again. At the mall, Blanche and Sophia find a wallet. It has $2,000 cash in it. A man and a nun convince the two to put it in an account where each will add money as well. They each put up $1,000 to match the man’s $2,000. Dorothy goes to Glenn’s apartment. He informs her he and his wife got a divorce. She found someone else and divorced him. The things he is telling her leave her unsettled. Does he just want someone to take care of everything for him? Or does he want love? They make some odd small talk and then head off to have sex. Meanwhile, the girls come back from the mall and evade Rose’s questions about their day. They swear not to tell anyone because getting scammed was embarrassing. But shortly after arriving at the house, Sophia tells Rose what happened. Rose explains to them they were conned with a confidence game scam. She tells them they need to inform the police. Blanche doesn’t want to because she is too embarrassed. Rose tells a St. Olaf story to convince them to come forward. Blanche does file the report. Later she gets a call to come take a look at a lineup. She also has a date with the officer. Dorothy brings Glenn over to meet Sophia. Before they go in he casually asks her to marry him. She is a little surprised. He tells her to think about it. Everyone meets Glenn. Sophia slightly warms up to him when she learns he grew up in Brooklyn. But Sophia asks him immediately why he cheated on his wife. Dorothy tells the girls in the kitchen that Glenn proposed. Dorothy is excited and wants to say yes. Later that night she and Sophia talk about it. Dorothy is worried that she could make another mistake. Dorothy decides to have a talk with Glenn. While they are talking, Glenn’s ex-wife calls. He tells her he is alone. Dorothy does not like this. Dorothy points out that when he was cheating her told her he was alone. Then she tells him about Stan. He tries to pressure her by telling her he can’t wait years for someone for years, he needs someone now. Dorothy is not interested in this kind of marriage or relationship. She ends things and leaves.
