Summary:
Blanche gets a letter from the IRS. She’s being audited. Blanche forgot to declare Rose and Dorothy and Sophia. Not just on her most recent tax return but all five while they have been living with her. Dorothy tells her about a high school friend she had reconnected with named Helen. They had plans but she died of a heart attack last night. She goes through her yearbook, realizes how many have passed. She also finds a list of things she wanted to accomplish. She has only done a few and she is upset. Blanche asks about the list. Apparently, she has already one of the people Dorothy wanted to do. Tells her she didn’t miss much. Rose comes back and she is upset too. A coworker doesn’t like her. She wants to replace his dog that died with a new pet. Blanche advises her its a bad idea but she doesn’t listen. Dorothy decides to sign up at an open mic night and do stand up comedy. Later, Roger, Rose’s coworker, comes to the house. He’s returning the cat she got him because it mauled him and ate his pet bird. Blanche collects all her receipts in a shoebox, but must have grabbed the wrong box as it’s just shoes. Dorothy tries a joke out on Sophia for her act. It doesn’t go well. They have a delightful conversation about supporting each other. Blanche returns and tells them she’s getting audited on tuesday. She’s not worried, she didn’t have to pay anything the last time. Rose takes a friendship cake to Roger. He doesn’t want it or anything to do with her. He finally agrees to be her friend if she’ll never talk to him again. It’s now the night of the comedy show. Dorothy is bombing. Sophia heckles her and she changes topics to the girls. This routine is a hit. But Dorothy has no intention of doing this again. It’s the day of the audit. This time the auditor is a woman. Blanche invites her to the kitchen so she can write a check.
