Summary:
Blanche asks the girls if they have heard of dirty dancing. One refers to the movie. She tells them that the local dance studio is going to teach it. She wants them to go with her to the class. Rose says she’ll go. Sophia checks the mail and gets a letter from some friends Philomena and Dominic Bosco in Sicily. They are visiting Miami with their daughter Gina who is going to be married soon. Dorothy explains that she and Gina were born in the same hospital in Brooklyn within minutes of each other. The couple moved back to Sicily later. It’s the day they are to arrive. Sophia is making pasta. Blanche and Rose come back from dance class. Blanche struggled to learn the moves but Rose was a natural. They get interrupted by the doorbell, the Boscos have arrived. They ask the Boscos why they made the trip. They inform them they came to take their daughter Gina back to Sicily to get married. All are confused as Gina came with them. But they tell them that to get married Gina had to take a blood test. The blood test showed that she was not their daughter. They believe Dorothy is their daughter. Everyone is outraged. Sophia wants proof. Gina finally comes in and she looks like a mirror image of Sophia. That night Dorothy is upset. She is sharing a room with Sophia. Sophia tells her not to worry. However, the Boscos hear that she is upset and they come to try and comfort “their daughter.” This just upsets Dorothy even more. She states she will get a blood test tomorrow and put this to rest once and for all. Blanche and Rose arrive back. They went to a club to try out their dancing skills. Rose was a great dancer, but Blanche did so badly, she got laughed at. She is very upset. Dorothy can’t sleep either, she’s worried about her situation. Blanche points out that it doesn’t matter if Sophia gave birth to her or not, they have been mother and daughter her entire life. Now Dorothy is at the hospital. Dorothy has a meltdown with someone at the vending machine. It turns out they are a surgeon and they are freaking out about their surgery as well. Sophia comes out. It was a challenge for them to get blood out of Sophia. She will have results shortly. While they wait for the results, Sophia tells her a story about her first day of school. Dorothy cried and cried. Then she made a new friend, but the friend wasn’t very nice. Sophia stayed and watched the whole day through the window. She stayed just in case Dorothy needed her. Someone comes out with test results. Later, Rose is getting ready for class. Blanche says she is not going. Rose just tells her she’s awkward with her body and many of her stories about her affairs with men must not be true. This angers Blanche. She decides to dance with Rose to prove she can. Dorothy and Sophia come home to see Blanche’s hand on Rose’s butt and are a bit shocked and amused. The Boscos are leaving with Gina to go back to Sicely. Gina’s finance wants to marry her not Dorothy. They apologize to Dorothy and Sophia for all the pain and suffering they caused. Gina is their daughter, just as Dorothy is Sophia’s daughter. Blanche decides to take Rose to the circus to meet some of the men she’s talked about. Sophia teases Dorothy by pretending to have the test results.
