Synopsis: Rick and several others from the group have just attended Fred Nolan’s funeral. They come back to the war room and tell the rest of the team about it. The Money Pit plan is outlined. An access road has to be created to the site as well as resurfacing the area to support the weight of the cranes. Rick checks out the worksite and it’s progressing quickly. He and Charles look at what’s been dug up and find more wood. Most likely it’s from previous digs and shafts. As they continue to dig they also find a piece of pottery. Charles finds a piece of tile. This find perplexes Rick. He goes to the water to wash it off. They both see an X with a hook. It’s believed to be a symbol used by the Knights Templar as far back at the 14th century. Another meeting takes place in the war room with a metal detection expert. He scanned the swamp with a new technology. He’s marked several spots that have a heavy metal concentration. He gives them a map with the GPS coordinates of each spots. Now they are going to investigate the swamp again. Marty calls their diver, Tony Sampson, to go into the swamp and figure out what the metal hits are. The first spot to check is the stump. Tony finds a metal survey marker in the stump that was placed there by Fred Nolan. Next, they focus on the large anomaly. Tony brings up a very long piece of wood. Jack uses a hand-held metal detector on the board and gets no metal hits. Marty believes the anomaly must be buried below the bottom of the swamp. Rick and Marty decide they will try and drain the swamp again. Craig has brought a geologist to the island to examine the tile that they found. He examines it and determines it’s a sedimentary rock, most likely a sandstone. He believes that the X on the stone was manmade. The team gathers in the war room to get the analysis of the large plank found in the swamp. The carbon testing says it 1680 to 1735 as to the age of the plank. Charles points out that Fred did find parts of a shin in the swamp. Marty now locks on to a hard target in the swamp that he wants to dig up.
