Synopsis: The team head to meet with a pair of serial killers. At the prison the female of the pair is put on her death watch. At the command center the team goes over the 12 murders. Some of the team head back to the house where the crimes were committed. After leaving the scene Elle and Morgan go to speak with Sarah Jean’s mother. Gideon and Reid go to visit Sarah Jean. Gideon compliments her paintings. He simply asks why those girls had to die. When Derek and Elle try to speak with her mother they don’t get a very warm response but they don’t get turned away. They learn that Sarah did not have a good relationship with her father. He was abusive to the mother. Back at the prison Sarah Jean has an encounter with Jacob, but she knows it was designed. Elle calls for Gideon and reads the letter that Sarah sent to her mom. She didn’t kill them but she feels that they died because she did nothing. Gideon tries to get her a stay of execution, but fails. She confessed to killing her son so he would need to prove that it was Jacob who killed him. Meanwhile, JJ comes up with an attempt to make him talk. She goes in because she is his type. Gideon meets with Sarah again and analyzes her paintings. Hotch is going to play poker with Jacob to try and get more names. Gideon and Sarah continue to talk. Hotch wins the poker game. Jacob tells him there are no other bodies. They play a bluff on Jacob and he tells them where the babies body should be. But they body is another victim, not the child’s. Garcia finds out some additional information. He tells her about the newest victim. She cleaned that victim’s house. Gideon has deduced that she did not murder her son Riley. Gideon asks the warden for five minutes in Sarah Jean’s cell. So the warden takes her outside to see the moon for the last time so Gideon can search her cell. He takes the back off of one of the paintings and finds a newspaper clipping with a boy playing the cello. Back at the command center Gideon wants the photo circulated as a missing person. As Jacob gets taken to the chamber he tells them he killed 18 people. Even though he has confessed to killing 4 more people they can’t stop the execution. While she is being prepped for her execution she discovers that the picture is missing. Before they execute Jacob Hotch shows him the picture of Riley and he is angry and then executed. Gideon returns the photo to Sarah and tells her that Jacob is gone he can’t hurt him. She informs him that her choice to confess to Riley’s murder had nothing to do with Jacob she only wanted to protect her son. Gideon comes up with some answers. They’ve located Riley. He’s in Keystone Heights. Gideon tries to get a stay but the warden says it can only come from the governor. She tries to make him understand that she doesn’t want his life tainted by what Jacob has done. Morgan and Elle make it to the home but no one is there. A car pulls ups. They have the song. She asks Gideon not to make her son Jacob’s last victim. He hugs her and grants her wish and says it’s not the boy. She asks one final favor of Gideon, if he would be the last thing she sees. Later, Gideon goes to a cello concert.
