Synopsis: A house on an Air Force Base is stormed. A member of the military is holed up inside and armed. They find the man to be ill. Mulder meets Scully at a restaurant. He discusses the man sick on the Air Force Base with her. He wants to investigate and she is skeptical. Mulder goes to the bathroom and meets Deep Throat, who warns him to leave the case alone. Mulder runs out of the bathroom to speak with him more, but he has disappeared. Scully calls Mulder with questions. He thinks his phone is being tapped. He ends the call. They go to the military mans house and speak to his wife. She explains how her husband’s behavior had changed recently. And that her husband is not the only one acting weird. They speak to the second wife who dodges their questions. Scully is familiar with the condition that the second husband has. It’s caused by extreme stress that can’t be handled. They try and reach the appropriate military officials, but get stonewalled. A reporter approaches Mulder. He gets the intel on local spots that have information on UFO’s. He gets information on where to see a UFO and they go to the location. Night falls and they are treated to a light show, but they aren’t sure what they are looking at. A helicopter approaches as two kids come through the fence off the base. Mulder and Scully chase them and keep them from getting caught. They take the kids to get food. Scully is skeptical as it’s clear the kids are on something. Someone from the base is tracking them. Mulder shows them a photo and they confirm that is what they saw. Mulder and Scully discus whether or not the kids are for real. He believes them and she is skeptical. He believes some parts from Roswell were shipped to this base. At the hotel Scully receives a message. The missing military man has come home. When the arrive at his home, the Mrs. is hysterical. She says this man is not her husband. He is having major memory issues, but he doesn’t know why. Mulder thinks the military has altered his memories so that he cannot remember what he was flying for him. they leave and while driving are pulled over by two carloads of men in black. There car is searched and all their evidence is destroyed by the men. They are told to leave immediately. At the hotel Mulder shares some additional theories with Scully. He finally tells her about the man at the bar, Deep Throat, and she is not amused. They argue. Scully points out that the missing kidnap victim is no longer missing, their work is done. Mulder takes off from the hotel and pisses Scully off. He meets the kids and they take him to where they sneak onto the base. Mulder sneaks onto the base. He doesn’t heed the warnings of the two kids and gets caught. He is strapped to a gurney in the back of the ambulance and injected with something. Scully is back at the hotel and her phone isn’t working, neither is the phone in the office. Back at the Base Mulder is in some kind of hangar. Back at the hotel one of the “agents” was searching Scully’s room and she catches him. She hears him being called over the radio from his car and realizes he’s from the base. She jumps in his car, locks it and searches it. She finds his ID and gun. She then takes him hostage. The kids come back and tell her they took Mulder to the base. She demands he find out where Mulder is. At the base they put weird drops in Mulder’s eyes. She trades the base security guy for Mulder. They go to visit the missing man again, but are rebuffed. Mulder believes “they” got to her. Scully is visibly upset. Mulder is running on a track and he gets visited by Deep Throat again. Who warns him their lives may be in danger because of what they have seen. He tells Mulder he will continue to help him as long as it’s in his best interest.
