Synopsis: A female is running through a forest, during a storm. She sees a bright light and a male walks toward her and they disappear. She is found dead the next day. One of the detectives identifies the body. At FBI Headquarters, Agent Dana Scully arrives. She is interviewed by several higher ups. She is assigned to work with Agent Mulder on the X Files. She is to debunk the X Files project. She goes to Mulder’s office in the basement. He believes Scully has been sent to spy on him. Mulder shows her slides of the dead woman in the forest. Then several others who all have the same unidentified protein. The two fly to Oregon to investigate. Scully notices some discrepancies on the autopsy reports. Mulder informs her he is having one body exhumed. Their radio goes insane on the road. They pull over. Mulder marks the road where it happened. They drive to the cemetery where the body is being exhumed. The medical examiner is quite ticked off. The casket falls, it opens as it does, and inside they find something that does not look human. Scully does an autopsy on the remains, and says its not human, it’s most likely and orangutan. There is a weird metallic implant in the nasal cavity. At the hotel Mulder tells her he’s going for a run, she says good night. They speak to the patients doctor, who believes he was suffering from post traumatic stress. He tells them he is treating two people who were classmates of the deceased. They live at the hospital. Billy is in a waking coma and Peggy is in a wheelchair. Peggy has the spots on her back, like the rest of the victims. Scully yells at him to get the truth. He tells her he thinks the kids have been abducted by what’s and not who’s. Scully wants to know why the kids where in the forest. They go to the forest where she was found. Mulder’s compass spins out of control. Scully takes a dirt sample. A weird sound gets her attention. She sees a bright light as she calls out for Mulder. A man with the Sheriff pulls a shotgun on them and threatens to arrest them. They are escorted back to their car. Scully shows Mulder the strange dirt. While driving the bright light happens again. The car dies. He sees they lost 9 minutes and he sees the mark he sprayed on the road. And while they are out the car, it restarts on it’s own. Back at the hotel Scully checks her back, and finds marks. She showers Mulder. He tells her they are mosquito bites. They stay up talking. Mulder tells Scully about his sisters abduction and how he came to be working the X Files. Mulder gets a weird call from a woman telling him that Peggy O’dell was dead. Mulder and Scully go to the scene. They are told that she ran in front of a truck. Mulder doesn’t know how because she was in a wheelchair. They go back to the hotel and it’s on fire. The coroner’s daughter finds them and asks for help. She is scared she will wind up like the others, as she finds herself in the woods but doesn’t know she gets there. Her nose starts to bleed and her father comes and gets her. Because of all the weirdness they go to the cemetery to check out the rest o te graves. But when they get there, both graves have been dug up. Scully tells Mulder that Peggy’s watch had stopped shortly after 9. They go to visit Billy Miles at the hospital. Scully examines his feet and finds traces of dirt. She found the same dirt from Billy’s feet that she found in the forest. They go back to the forest that night. they hear a scream and they plunge into the forest to help. Scully gets conked on the head by a sheriff. Mulder is also stopped by a sheriff. Billy is there with another girl to kill. Mulder sees the dots on his back. Scully walked into view and sees a bright light. Billy is talking again. The girl isn’t dead. The marks are gone from his back. Billy is taken to FBI Headquarters and question about seeing the light. He tells of his abduction and that they put something in his head. Scully is questioned about her report. She’s told she has no evidence. She hands over the metal inserted in the nose of the victim she autopsied. She states the metal could not be identified. Mulder calls Scully and tells her all the paperwork and evidence is gone, that no charges will be filed. The smoking man puts the piece of evidence that Scully gave him in a secure vault in the Pentagon.
