Book: Bones of Betrayal by Jefferson Bass (Body Farm #4)

This book left me speechless. Clearly, my high school history class left a lot out.

Dr. Brockton is called to Oak Ridge to assist with removal of a body from a frozen pool. The victim turns out to be Leonard Novak, a scientist from the Oak Ridge facility of the Manhattan Project.

The autopsy takes a life-threatening turn for Dr. Garcia and Miranda. In a single moment, a small pebble, which turns out to be highly radioactive, changes their lives forever. As both get hit with radiation levels that are extremely high. Dr. Garcia got more exposure than anyone because the body was in the morgue for nearly 24 hours and he was exposed for over 10 hours. He also held the pebble in his hands. Miranda also held it with her fingers but only for seconds.

This book covers a lot of history regarding the Manhattan Project. It weaves a tale of murders, revenge, espionage, betrayal and lives destroyed.

Who killed Leonard Novak? What secret was he being blackmailed about? What was the radiation source that Miranda and Dr. Garcia were exposed to? Do they survive the radiations effects?
